AI translation seems like the ideal tool for this. The source texts are available, models deliver multiple language versions in a short time, and from a project perspective the bottleneck initially appears resolved.<\/p><p>In practice, however, a different picture emerges. Multilingual e-learning does not scale by producing more translations in a short time, but by reducing the effort per additional language. Scaling means the system handles additional load more efficiently.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3eef99c elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3eef99c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>A simplified picture:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Linear replication:<br \/><\/strong>every new course and every new language causes almost the same effort as the previous one.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scaling:<br \/><\/strong>structures, templates, terminology, and processes ensure that a large part of the work can be reused or automated. Without structural adjustments, AI translation merely shifts the bottleneck:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>translation becomes faster<\/li>\n<li>but review, QA, file management, and approvals move into the foreground<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scaling multilingual e-learning therefore requires more than fast translation. This does not mean centralized control of every detail, but clearly defined guardrails.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>central definition of which types of courses require which quality level in which languages<\/li>\n<li>clear rules for when AI translation may be used and when it may not<\/li>\n<li>defined approval responsibilities for subject-matter, functional, and legal aspects<\/li>\n<li>aligned tool standards and design principles for multilingualism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Without these guardrails, every new language creates its own process that is hard to manage.
